Metin Coşgel is professor of economics and interim head of the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut. His current research interests include economic history and the economics of religion. He is the author of The Economics of Ottoman Justice: Settlement and Trial in the Sharia Courts ( with Boğac Ergene), Cambridge University Press (November, 2016).
