Metin Coşgel is professor of economics at the University of Connecticut. His current research interests include the political economy of religion and pluralism and the economic history of the Ottoman Empire. He is the author of The Economics of Ottoman Justice: Settlement and Trial in the Sharia Courts ( with Boğac Ergene), Cambridge University Press (November, 2016).
